Who is The Malaysia Bonsai & Suiseki Society
The Malaysia Bonsai and Suiseki Society (MBSS) was founded in 1988 by a group of bonsai enthusiasts who shared a common interest in the hobby. Its growth is synonymous with bonsai growth in Malaysia, and today, MBSS is the largest non-profit bonsai group in the country. It is also solely recognized for representing Malaysia on the world stage by participating in the regional and international Bonsai and Suiseki Friendship Federation.
MBSS, a society registered under the Societies Act of 1966, has over 850 members as of 2023. Its objective is to promote the art of Bonsai and Suiseki in Malaysia. MBSS is located at No 95, Jalan Rukun 5, Taman Gembira, 58200 Kuala Lumpur.
For the first time, MBSS is proud to be the country host for the 6th Asia Pacific Bonsai & Suiseki Conference and Exhibition (ASPAC) at The MINES Kuala Lumpur in 2001. This is a remarkable achievement MBSS has made thus far. After 25 years, MBSS won the bid to host the 10th World Bonsai Convention 2026, hosted in Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
The aims and objectives of the society are as follows:-
- To promote the art of bonsai and suiseki and its related activities to make Malaysia greener.
- To foster friendship through bonsai and suiseki.
- To arrange and organize bonsai and suiseki shows for the benefit of its members and the Malaysian public.
